Cake Decorator

Job purpose

To ensure cake, cookie and other dessert orders and retail items are prepared meeting established standards and required quantities.   

Duties and responsibilities

  • Perform inventory of cake slices, cupcakes, showcase cakes, cake pops, tarts, seasonal items and boxed cookies throughout the day.
  • Stock showcases and retail areas with product from the inventory procedure.
  • Complete all orders on file and orders taken throughout the day.
  • Check supply of ganaches, Chantilly and other product required to be on hand and prepare as necessary so as not to run out.
  • Fill/dip cream puffs and eclairs as necessary to maintain adequate supply on hand.
  • Perform weekly cake inventory and provide accurate counts to Baker(s).
  • Cut, bake and box (or make cookie pop) specialty cookies for holidays and special events.
  • Decorate cupcakes for holidays and special events. 
  • Always keep cake room well organized and clean.  This includes drains, shelves, counter tops, windows, inside and outside of refrigerator and microwave and all tools utilized in performing duties.
  • Meets production standards.
  • Observes safety and security procedures.
  • Uses equipment and materials properly.
  • Uses time effectively.
  • Maintain regular communication with supervisors, co-workers and executive pastry chef on day-to-day production and challenges.
  • Treats others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position.
  • Additional duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 months commercial cake decorating experience.
  • Must have a keen eye for decorating.
  • Must have experience using required decorating tools (pastry bags, tips, decorative items).
  • Ability to move and work at a production rate of speed.
  • Possession of valid California Food Handlers or ServSafe card.
  • Authorized to work in the United States on an unconditional basis.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays and overtime.
    • Business demands during holiday seasons may require “black-out” periods where personal time off requests will not be honored.

Working conditions & Environments

  • Exposure to potential hazards exists with respect to knives, ovens, mixers and other work aids necessary to perform job duties.
  • Frequent exposure for brief periods of time to 03o Fahrenheit while handling products in the walk-in and freezer.
  • Frequent exposure for brief periods of time to high heat radiating from commercial ovens when placing product in or removing after baking process.
  • Working conditions consists of a commercial kitchen production area in a temperature-controlled environment.
  • Hands are frequently exposed to water and cleaning agents.
  • Exposure to moderate noise levels.

Physical requirements

  • Ability to stand up to 8 hours at a time.
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms.
  • Ability to stoop, kneel or crouch.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must have manual dexterity.
  • Must be able to identify and distinguish colors, shapes and textures.

Pastry Cooks/Bakers

BASIC PURPOSE AND FUNCTION: Supports bakery production focusing on Breads, Croissants, and other breakfast pastries using our established recipes. Ensures products are well stocked and pars maintained.
 
 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 -Mixes ingredients and prepares doughs and batters.

-Laminates, proofs and bakes croissants and other pastries.
 -Finishes product and prepares it for retail display and sales.
 -Ensures prep area and bakery are cleaned and sanitized
 -Adheres to established recipes
 -Provides support to other bakery staff when needed
 -Washing containers and other equipment and tools used in baking processes.
 -Responsible for performing all duties with honesty and integrity.
 -Other necessary and required duties.
 
 SKILLS, PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
 
 -Ability to work and move at a production rate of speed.

-Possession of California Food Handlers Certificate required or the ability to obtain with 7 days of hire.
 -Ability to stand for long periods of time. Ability to frequently lift up to approximately 50 lbs.
 -Ability to frequently reach and maneuver product filled containers within the range of floor level to overhead.
 -Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, twist and turn up to 8 hours.
 -Manual dexterity, good eye-hand coordination, and good balance are necessary.
 -Ability to be friendly, courteous, tactful and maintain composure in dealing with co-workers.
 -Must possess good communication skills and be able to read and follow written instructions.
 -Must maintain professionalism during both peak and slower periods.
 -Exposure to potential hazards exists with respect to knives, ovens, mixers and other work aides necessary to perform job duties. Frequent exposure for brief periods of time to 03° Fahrenheit while handling products in the walk-in and freezer. Dishwashers

SCRATCH BAKERY CAFE  is seeking Dishwashers for full and part time positions.

This is a great opportunity to get in on the ground floor and work your way up.  Dishwashers can learn prep cook duties and eventually move up to line cooks.

BASIC PURPOSE AND FUNCTION:  Washing and sanitizing all plates, utensil and cooking equipment.  May assist Front of House with bussing tables.

We are seeking a Server to become an integral part of our team! You will take orders and serve food to patrons at the dining establishments. Full and Part-Time positions available.

Responsibilities:

  • Take customer food and beverage orders
  • Serve food and beverages to guests
  • Explain to guests about menu items
  • Barista duties (prepare lattes and other coffee drinks) - will train
  • Clean and prepare the dining areas
  • Greet and make all guests feel welcome at the restaurant
  • Respond to guest inquiries and requests in a timely fashion
  • Perform other restaurant duties as assigned

  • Previous experience in customer service, food service, or other related fields is preferred

Line Cook

BASIC PURPOSE AND FUNCTION: Assisting lead cooks in preparing breakfast and lunch items, both hot and cold. Keeps deli stocked and preps items to ensure uninterrupted flow of food delivery. This a fast-paced position which requires strong attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prepares food orders in a timely manner

Maintains portion control and takes regular inventory

Restock kitchen for subsequent shifts

Ensures food prep area and kitchen are cleaned and sanitized

Adheres to established recipes

Receiving and stocking of food vendor orders

Washing containers and other equipment and tools used in cooking processes.

Responsible for performing all duties with honesty and integrity.

Other necessary and required duties.
