Barista/Cashier

Cashier/Barista/Customer Service:  We are seeking energetic and enthusiastic individuals who enjoy working with the public.  Prior customer service and espresso-drink preparation experience preferred but not necessary.   In addition to a passion for superior customer service, qualified candidates must be able to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.

Requires standing and bending up to 8 hours - Lifting up to 25 pounds max.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Cashier/Barista: Making espresso drinks for customers, high level of customer interaction, keeping the store clean, and maintaining the presentation of our goods.  Taking deli orders and communicating with the Deli Staff to ensure quick and accurate delivery of food orders.

Bakery Positions

SCRATCH BAKERY CAFE  is seeking Bakers and Bakery Production Assistants for full and part time positions. Minimum one year experience is required.

We pride ourselves on the freshly prepared items we serve from our bakery and are looking for experienced and passionate people to help support our team. We are seeking people who have a great attitude, enjoy working in a busy bakery environment are willing to grow with the company, and work well with others. BASIC PURPOSE AND FUNCTION: Assisting Head Pastry Chef and bakers in preparing doughs, batters and fillings. Maintains proper production pars and consistency in preparation of all baked goods. This a fast-paced position which requires strong attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Proofing and baking daily pastries and dessert items

Preparing and cutting cookie dough and cake batters and baking off product

Finishing off baked goods (glazes, sugars, etc)

Ensures prep area and bakery are cleaned and sanitized

Adheres to established recipes

Receiving and stocking of vendor orders

Washing containers and other equipment and tools used in baking processes.

Responsible for performing all duties with honesty and integrity.

Other necessary and required duties.

SKILLS, PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

Possession of California Food Handlers Certificate required or the ability to obtain with 7 days of hire.

Ability to stand for long periods of time. Ability to frequently lift up to approximately 25 lbs.
Ability to frequently reach and maneuver product filled containers within the range of floor level to overhead.

Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, twist and turn up to 8 hours.

Manual dexterity, good eye-hand coordination, and good balance are necessary.

Ability to work and move at a production rate of speed.

Ability to be friendly, courteous, tactful and maintain composure in dealing with customers and co-workers.

Must possess good communication skills and be able to read and follow written instructions.

Must maintain professionalism during both peak and slower periods.

Exposure to potential hazards exists with respect to knives, ovens, mixers and other work aides necessary to perform job duties. Frequent exposure for brief periods of time to -10° Fahrenheit while handling products in the walk-in and freezer. Working conditions consists of a commercial kitchen production area in a temperature-controlled environment. Hands are frequently exposed to water and cleaning agents.

BASIC PURPOSE AND FUNCTION: Ensuring our cake and dessert products adhere to our decorating standards. Keeping showcases full with fresh product.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assembles, frosts and decorates cakes and cupcakes.

Cuts, bakes and decorates a variety of cookies.

Creates fruit tarts.

Creates cream puffs and eclairs including preparation of pate a choux dough.

Prepares other dessert items as needed.

Maintains a full, fresh cake and dessert case.

Ensures proper cleanliness and sanitation of decorating work aides and work area. Ensures a safe work environment.

Responsible for assisting other bakery staff on large orders on occasion.

Washing sheet pans and other equipment and tools used in bakery processes.

Responsible for performing all duties with honesty and integrity.

SKILLS, PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

Ability to stand for long periods of time. Ability to frequently lift buckets weighing up to approximately 25 lbs. Ability to frequently reach and maneuver product filled trays within the range of floor level to overhead. Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, twist and turn frequently. Manual dexterity, good eye-hand coordination, and good balance are necessary. Ability to work and move at a production rate of speed.

Ability to be friendly, courteous, tactful and maintain composure in dealing with customers and co-workers. Must possess good communication skills and be able to read and follow written instructions.

Requires creative ability and the ability to identify colors.

Possession of valid California Food Handlers or ServSafe card.

MUST love working with the public and maintain professionalism during both peak and slower periods.

Bending 8 hours - Lifting up to 25 pounds max. consistently - Standing up to 8 or more hours.
