Capture the Everyday: Three Kitchen Items You Can't Live Without

Is about getting you to capture those everyday moments in your life! Each Thursday, I’ll issue a simple challenge to capture something that’s a part of your daily life. You can post just a picture or add some words to go along with it. You’ll have a week to get it done and then I’ll issue another. It’s a quick, easy way to start capturing those little parts of life we sometimes take for granted.

This Week’s Assignment: Three Kitchen Items You Can’t Live Without

Okay so I skipped the bowls this week. You’ve already seen them. This week, I went for kitchen utensils. While they look strangely like torture devices, I assure you they aren’t.

The big thing is a meat tenderizer. I guess you could say it’s a torture device for meat. While we don’t use it daily or even weekly, when we want to make a nice chicken piccata this thing pounds the hell out of some chicken. Have your kids hoppin' to eat vegetables

Introducing children to vegetables can be a daunting and forever-changing task. Every child is different, and what works for one doesn't necessarily work for the other. Not to mention, they like it one day and not the next! These are the stories of my life, and the story for most parents.

However, from child to child, a few tricks worked throughout the years. First, I adopted the motto that taste buds are always changing. There are many thoughts on exactly when they change, but I preferred to use the 10-day rule in regards to the "retry" in my home when the kids were little. However, I must be honest and let you in on a little warning. As much as this rule can work in your favor, it can also have the opposite effect. Yes, I laughed the first time it came back to me after this methodology had been working so well: "I don't like this any more. ... It's been 10 days."

Or you can get creative and let the holidays work in your favor. Holidays are a perfect time to play with food, and Bunny Food is a perfect example. Eat Bunny Food, or carrots and broccoli? I personally think dinner is way more fun as Bunny Food, and who knows, they just might find a new way to eat those healthy foods like carrots and broccoli.
