Lodge Enameled Cast Iron Cookware

Lodge now offer a range of great value enameled cast iron cookware. With very low prices compared to the more traditional enameled brands, this range of cookware has been very well received. It's also recommended by Cooks Illustrated.

Lodge Vs Le Creuset

Le Creuset has long been king when it comes to enameled cast iron. But they are expensive. Lodge certainly offer great value but there are a few negatives to be aware of.

First, Lodge do not produce the same extensive range of colors as Le Creuset. This is a pretty small issue and one most people are probably willing to overlook, given that there is a substantial difference in price.

Second, the anecdotal evidence is that Lodge enamel products are more prone to chipping than Le Creuset. Something to think about...

Finally I've noticed that some Amazon reviews of Lodge's enameled cookware have expressed disappointment that, unlike most of Lodge's products, this range of Lodge cast iron cookware is manufactured in China rather than in the U.S. Lodge are keen to point out that their enameled cookware, although imported, is manufactured to their own high standards and specifications.
