The Fourth of July is here and that means parades, fireworks and grilling. If you're heading out to a party and need some ideas on what to bring, try out one of these recipes. Patch found some ideas for entrees, sides, desserts and drinks.
Hamburgers and hot dogs are standard grilling fare but if you're looking for something different to serve in addition to those favorites, check out Nino Salvaggio 's recipe for sloppy joes. Once the ingredients are prepared and mixed together, it simmers for about 30 minutes so you'll be able to get your house party ready or visit with guests while waiting. The recipe serves eight people but if your party is larger, Nino's website has a handy calculator that will give you the proper measurement adjustments for additional guests. Everyone loves corn on the cob and we've found a tasty alternative to boiling it in water. Ingredients can be changed if you and your guests don't enjoy spicy seasonings, you can even grill it plain and add butter and salt afterwards. This recipe, from www.allrecipes.com , calls for oregano, chili powder, garlic, cayenne, onion powder, butter, salt and pepper. You'll need one ear of corn per person, more if they're really hungry! The recipe, found here , gives measurements for six servings but includes a calculator to make needed adjustments.
