What do you like to bake?
I make carrot cakes. It's a recipe I got from a friend about 20 years ago. I modified it myself to make it my own. That's what recipes are, you doctor them and make them your own. I've made a lot of them for Christmas parties and special occasions. People kept telling me I should go into business for myself.
What makes your carrot cake special?
It's my creation. I have had requests for just my frosting. People say they could eat that by the spoonful. One lady visited the Farmer's Market and ordered a cake for her office. The next week she was going to a party at her daughter's (house). The daughter said, "I could eat the whole thing if it was just frosting." That was one of my sheetcakes.
I add extra cream cheese to my frosting. It's not too sweet, it's more on the cream cheese part. Each batch is made separately. I don't have a commercial mixer so I just make one batch at a time. My cakes are not frozen. I make them when each order is placed. I like a day's notice for orders.
