About the Owner

Hello! My name is Chris Schloss and I am the owner/operator of Scratch Bakery Café. Originally from Buffalo, NY, I have resided in the City of Albany for the past 10 years (Much less snow, much more fun!).

I’ve had a passion for the culinary and creative arts all of my life. Whether it’s cooking, drawing, painting, or creating graphic arts on the computer, my attention to detail and natural talent have made me very successful. After working in the financial industry for the past 10 years, I have decided to follow my dreams and do what I love most: cooking, creating, and entertaining. What better way to do this than open my own bakery-café in the Lark Street neighborhood!

As well as a passion, I also have professional training in the culinary arts. My culinary education ranges from baking and pastry courses at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park to authentic Mexican cuisine courses at the Mexican Home Cooking School in Tlaxcala, Mexico.
